17:00 – 20:00 01 – 11 NOV
The project has been specially commissioned through the Kirkwall Townscape Heritage Initiative as a new and memorable way to reflect on the First World War in the lead up to the Centenary of the Armistice. The projection draws inspiration from the many events and stories associated with Orkney’s wartime heritage, combining archive imagery with beautiful hand drawn illustration into a visually spectacular animation that is presented on the exterior of St. Magnus Cathedral. Pupils from Glaitness Primary and Kirkwall Grammar schools were involved in the creation of the work. The animation runs on a loop each evening between 17.00 and 20.00 and is free to view.
