Join PLAYDEAD, the creators of ‘THE GREAT WAR: AN ORKNEY MEMORIAL EXPERIENCE’.’ As part of events to mark the centenary of the armistice in Orkney through the Kirkwall Townscape Heritage Initiative, PLAYDEAD were commissioned to create an animation that will be projected onto the exterior of St. Magnus Cathedral for 11 days leading up to 11 NOV.
The short film draws inspiration from the many events and stories associated with Orkney’s wartime heritage, combining archive imagery with beautiful hand drawn illustration into a visually spectacular animation.
After the premiere of the experience, come along and follow their creative journey from initial concepts to storyboard designs and how the whole experience came together.
Playdead are an animation studio based in Glasgow and have worked with a wide variety of clients internationally, from National Geographic, BBC (including their latest Blue Planet special), E4 and with Oscar-winning director Orlando von Einsiedel.
